The simplest Car MP3 FM Transmitters are audio signal senders only with no music playback feature integrated into the devices. People need to bring their own MP3 player into the car and use a transmitter to send music to the in-car music system. Those transmitters can usually be powered by batteries which offers freedom for passengers in any seat to operate the transmitter. There are however special Car MP3 FM Transmitters particularly manufactured for the latest models of iPhone and other iPod MP3 players.
FM Transmitter is a mini signal broadcaster using FM frequency - usually from 76.0 to 108.0 MHz. The user needs to set a transmitting frequency for both the transmitter and his/her car radio in order to broadcast music from the transmitter to the radio and then send to the speaker system of the car.
The recent models of Car MP3 FM Transmitters have integrated features of MP3 Players and FM Transmitters into a single device with either a Memory Card Reader & USB jack equipped and/or built-in memory. It can than play music from a SD/MMC memory card, USB stick or the internal memory with music stored already which enable people to use a Car MP3 FM Transmitter as an one-stop and plug-and-play in-car music player.
You need to bear in mind what memory size you may require if you buy a Car MP3 Player with internal memory. This will depend on how many songs you wish to store in the MP3 player. If the average size of your song is 4MB in MP3 format, a 1GB internal memory will enable you to store about 250 songs.
If your Car MP3 Player has got a memory card reader, you can in theory take as many memory cards with you to store as many songs as you wish without a limit. You need however to bear in mind that there may be a limit for the maximum capacity a card reader can read from a card. A typical card reader has up to 4GB the maximum reading capacity while some devices may have got a High Capacity Card Reader installed at a higher price.
Some newly developed models of Car MP3 FM Transmitters have Bluetooth technology integrated to enable users to receive phone calls hands free with a significant advantage and offering the user freedom to speak on telephone with no cables and no risk for receiving fines and points from police .
