You may
experience difficult to watch Freeview TV due to various reasons:
1. You
use a rooftop aerial to watch Freeview TV
-
the region is not covered by Freeview service at
present;
- your rooftop aerial has not got
sufficient bandwidth for digital signals. You may need to update or upgrade your TV aerial in this
case;
- there is a significant signal
decaying between the aerial and your TV set which may be caused by too long distance between or more than one TVs
are sharing the same aerial. A signal booster or amplifier to be connected within the loop may improve the
reception.
2. You use a portable antenna to watch Freeview
- the region is not covered by Freeview service at
present;
- the region is covered by Freeview
but the signal is not strong enough to support a portable antenna;
- the portable antenna has not got sufficient signal receiving capability;
- the signal is interfered by electromagnetic waves emitted by
other electrical or electronic appliances nearby;
- the signal is shield by structures including buildings nearby or walls/ceilings of your house.
The difficulty is
mainly due to that Freeview service in the UK is yet full power broadcasting at present. Our experience shows
that people can watch Freeview TV by a portable antenna in about 50% region at present although the quality of
reception may vary from time to time even in the same location affected by various factors.
The reception will however be improving along
with the progress of Digital TV Switchover program (see the
details at Scheduled Upgrading) and it is expected that a good quality portable digital TV
antenna will enable people to watch Freeview TV almost everywhere after the Switchover is completed in their region.
A signal
booster or a high gain antenna with an amplifier, such as One for All SV9365 Indoor 46dB Amplified Freeview/DAB Antenna, may improve reception
capability in regions where the signal is marginally strong for the time being.
